Alton in Bloom 2019

For 2019, our Alton branch was pleased to sponsor Alton in Bloom - an annual competition run by Alton Town Council in recognition of the residents, community groups, businesses and neighbourhoods that contribute to making Alton "Bloom" each year.  In addition, Alton Town Council also provide floral displays on lamp-posts, flower beds and in other areas around the town.  The competition was very well supported and received an impressive number of entries.

We were invited to be part of the judging panel, and on 13 September were pleased to join Alton Town Mayor (Cllr Graham Titterington), Deputy Town Mayor (Cllr Christopher Lawrence), Cllr Pam Jones and a representative from Specsavers (also sponsors) to present the certificates at the awards evening held at Alton Assembly Rooms.  The room was full to the brim with entrants eager to find out if they'd won Bronze, Silver or Gold, and if they were category winners.  Commenting on the awards evening, our Marketing Manager, Jill Hammond, said:  "We were so impressed with the high standard and quantity of entries.  Whether your garden is big or small, there's a category for everyone, including businesses, schools etc, and it was wonderful to see so many entrants taking such pride in their gardens and their town."

The Town Mayor thanked the sponsors and all the entrants, whose hard work and time went into making Alton "Bloom", whether it be their homes, businesses, schools, community buildings or key areas around the town centre.

The images here show just a small selection of entries from 2019, plus a group photograph of the category winners at the awards evening.
