Our Bordon branch was pleased to donate some lengths of timber for a "Cathedral of Colour" community event for Remembrance 2017, held at the Forest Community Centre in Bordon.

More than 1,400 pieces of coloured acetate were provided at locations across the town for people to write the name of someone they wished to remember.  These messages were then gathered up and strung together randomly, to which a weight and sleigh bell was fastened.  For one week covering Remembrance weekend these were all secured to a timber framework around the amphitheatre events space, creating a spectacle of colour and sound.  The coloured film, which moved in the wind, created coloured patterns on the steps and brickwork as the winter sun shone through, whilst the sleigh bells provided "music" for the visually impaired.  More than 100 people attended the accompanying service and the organisers said it was great to see the way in which adults and children continued to engage with the spectacle of colour.

Whitehill & Bordon Community Association (managers of the Forest Community Centre) wrote to thank us for our donation and were hoping to repeat and build upon the event the following year.
