Here are some stunning projects customers have shared with us, and we thank them for taking the time to send them in.
Two Local Landscaping Projects (2023)
We are pleased to share these two projects, kindly sent in to us by Richard Trotter of Richfield Landscapes.
For the first project Pavestone’s Opus Volterra porcelain paving had been chosen, as well as an Oxford natural stone circle. This project was completed in 4 weeks.
For the second project Pavestone’s Golden Fossil classic sandstone was used, as well as some of our bricks to complete the project. Part of the beauty and character of classic sandstone is that no two slabs are coloured the same. However, when combined they create a rich tapestry of colour, which changes to a darker colour when wet. This project took approximately 6 weeks to complete.
All materials were supplied by our Haslemere branch.
Richard Trotter commented: “I would like to thank Coomers for their fantastic service and great prices, thanks in particular to Sam and Harry for their help sourcing the materials required for both these jobs. I look forward to working together with Coomers on all my future projects”.
Green Cross Cottage (2022)
Although this delightful old cottage in Churt hadn’t been lived in for over 2 years, it had been in a family’s history for many years previously.
Gary Thomas and his team at TP & General Builders were given the task of completely refurbishing the cottage - a project that took just over a year to complete.
The vast majority of the materials were supplied by our Haslemere branch, including all the timber, insulation, and VELUX windows. Sam at our Haslemere branch also recommended a new innovative underfloor heating supplier called Warmup, who carried out a site survey and supplied all the components, which the client was extremely happy with.
The client especially liked the Pavestone Tudor Antique, Cathedral natural stone paving shown here. This handcrafted paving recreates the appeal of time-worn flagstones from previous centuries and blends sympathetically with older properties where the design seeks to provide an established feel, and was therefore the perfect choice for this old property.
Gary Thomas commented: “My clients were an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Many thanks to Coomers again for all their help with this project - top service as always!”
Tilford Road, Farnham (2020)
Tiered layered Porcelain patios, steps, stone walls and drainage.
Richard Mellor and the 1st Advanced Landscapes team were asked to tidy up a tired, concrete covering in a back garden, by creating a courtyard area with a rustic, Italian theme, stone walling and some new steps to link the different levels.
Richard and his team kept the different levels, which made the project more interesting. Porcelain Dolomite Dust paving from Pavestone was laid on the top level and step. Some small brick walls were created for the middle tier and Pavestone Grey Sandstone was laid with brick-built steps leading to the lower level garden. The team removed a pond at the lowest level and laid a mosaic pattern utilising Arabica Mosaic and Dolomite Dust porcelain paving from Pavestone around the outside, and finally Pavestone Burford Stone walling was built to keep authenticity with the existing wall. The contrasting products and colours worked very effectively together. Richard says he’s seeing an increased demand for porcelain paving at the moment as “it’s more durable and is easier to maintain”.
Richard Mellor commented: “I have been working with Coomers for over 5 years now and throughout this project and others, Sam Lumley and the team at Haslemere could not have done more to ensure the order and delivery of materials ran smoothly. What sets Coomers apart from other suppliers is their flexibility and commitment to client satisfaction. They don’t hide away, if difficulties arise, they work diligently to find a practical and quick solution (they’re a different class). I’d like to thank Sam in particular (who’s been an absolute Trojan and made life less stressful), but the whole team are very easy to work with.”
Chichester Landscaping Project (2019)
We’re pleased to share this project designed and landscaped by Nick Mount of Carmont Construction, which he completed with help from his colleague Michael Roberts for a customer in Chichester.
The paving used was Raj Blend Sandstone but other paving stones and rocks from the old garden were reclaimed and reused in the new design. This included the stones framing the outside of the circles, and the old rockery stones which were used as features in the new garden. The design also featured inlaid brickwork set at angles to the paving slabs and pointed with silver sand.
A gap was left around the edges of the paving which was filled with topsoil and weed control fabric, then planted with alpines and finally topped with pea shingle for low maintenance.
Nick Mount commented: “I’ve been using Coomers for 35 years and am very happy with the prices and the service I get from the Bordon branch.”
The Hamilton Arms, Stedham (2019)
The Hamilton Arms is a local pub and Thai restaurant in the small quaint village of Stedham, near Midhurst.
Gary Thomas and his team at TP & General Builders took on a project at the pub, which they completed in 9 months and with 2 weeks to spare!
The project was to build guest accommodation, comprising four single chalets and a two storey family unit. These are perfect for anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, and especially good for a stop off or somewhere to stay during the Goodwood events which happen throughout the summer.
Gary Thomas commented: “It was a project I really enjoyed doing, and as you can see from the pictures, a very successful one. Practically all materials came from Coomers, they were brilliant throughout the whole process of the build. They’re a great company to deal with and always provide me with excellent service and competitive pricing, nothing is too much trouble for Sam and the Haslemere team, and they always manage to pull it out the bag for me.”
Keepers Cottage, Plaistow (2018)
We were delighted to see photos of this fantastic project, completed by Dave Darling - a customer at our Haslemere branch.
Dave told us that Keepers was his first project where all aspects of building were required. A new build and extension, with renovation to the existing building on a large scale. Our Haslemere branch supplied all the heavy side of the build, from bricks and blocks to roofing and insulation, and everything to a plastered finish.
Dave commented: “Myself and my clients, Caroline and David, are very pleased with the service provided by Coomers and advice that Olly and the team at Haslemere gave us during the project, and continue to give me in my current projects. I’d like to thank Caroline and David for giving me the opportunity to work with them on their dream project.”
