The official opening of Alton Men’s Shed took place on Saturday 5 August 2023 at their new facility at Edgar Hall, Anstey Lane, and went extremely well in spite of the great British weather! Local MP Damian Hinds opened the event, which was also attended by many dignitaries and council members. Damian spoke passionately about the Men’s Shed organisation and in particular how it’s supported by local businesses.
We were pleased to donate 25 hi-vis vests for members of Alton Men’s Shed to wear at the opening event and also use for safety when working on various community projects, for which the group expressed their gratitude.
Alton Men’s Shed is a registered charity that aims to improve the well-being and mental health of older men and women. As many are already aware, the idea of a Men’s Shed, is a catalyst to get retired men of all backgrounds, no exclusions, involved in their own well-being as well as feeling they can still be a participant in the community, whilst forming new friendships and camaraderie together.
