Discover Porcelain Paving

If you're new to porcelain paving, you may be forgiven for thinking the name suggests it's somehow delicate or fragile, but nothing could be further from the truth!  Porcelain is the latest in advanced paving solutions that combines Italian styling with robust, durable, vitrified technology.

For many, natural stone paving that ages over time is exactly what's required, but for others a paving that stays looking as fresh and clean as the day it was installed and requires very little maintenance is preferred.  Here's where porcelain paving comes into its own.

Above you can see Dolomite porcelain paving in Dust colour.  This range comes in a choice of ten vibrant stone colours and we stock most of them.  We also stock the Alfa range in Grey Mineral and Storm, and Calibra in Chalkboard and Linen … but all types of Pavestone porcelain paving may be ordered at any branch.

What are the benefits of porcelain paving?

Porcelain paving is:

  • Durable and colour fast:  The colour will never fade regardless of sun or the passage of time.  Blacks will stay black and not turn grey, light colours will stay light and will not turn grey/brown.
  • Easy to maintain:  Virtually maintenance free.  You could spill a glass of red wine (why would you!) and just mop it up with kitchen paper.  No harsh chemicals are required.
  • Algae resistant:  For north facing gardens this is quite key, as you cannot lay sandstone or concrete without it being permanently green.  Moss and algae cannot get established on it, unlike on porous stone.
  • Frost resistant:  It will usually not be affected by the seasonal weather changes and will be unlikely to deteriorate in freezing weather conditions that can see some stone surfaces deteriorate gradually.
  • Scratch resistant:  Garden furniture or bikes won’t mark the paving.
  • Acid resistant:  Chemicals in fertilisers used on lawns have a habit of leaving nasty stains on sandstone and concrete which are very troublesome to remove.
  • Available in various colour/textures/finishes:  To suit contemporary and traditional gardens.
  • The same colour throughout:  This basically means it’s more durable.  There's no top layer which is used by ‘cheaper’ manufacturers resulting in it eventually breaking off.
  • Anti-slip:  R11 anti-slip finish is the latest development to meet the growing demand for porcelain outdoor paving.  This unique finish roughens the tile surface without changing its appearance giving good grip underfoot in damp and wet weather.
