Haslemere Parish 2022

Our Haslemere branch were pleased to donate a couple of sheets of MDF for some local events run for children by Haslemere Parish (St Bartholomew's and St Christopher's churches).

On 29 October 2022 a Light Party was held for 50 local children at St Bartholomew’s church, catering for children in school years 1-7.  The church was transformed into a twinkling wonderland with fairy lights and candles, creating a truly special atmosphere along with the amazing glittery costumes which were worn by all!  The Light Party was an alternative to a Halloween Party (focusing on light rather than the darker themes of Halloween).  After it had been painted, one of our donated MDF boards was used in a UV room, where the children wrote messages or drew pictures using UV pens.  Other activities included glow hoopla, prayer pass the parcel, sparklers, neon face painting, candle jar creations and a reflection corner.  Below you can see the message board as well as the lovely poster the children sent to thank us for the MDF donation.

The second donated board was used by the youth group to create a Remembrance painting to be displayed in church on Remembrance Sunday.

This wasn't the end of the MDF boards, however, as they were due to be repainted for reuse at a fun event for children, planned to take place at the Haslewey Centre for Easter 2023!

We’re pleased that the local children have had so much fun with our MDF boards, and on behalf of St Bartholomew’s & St Christopher’s churches, Haslemere, Verity Sutherland (Children’s and Families Worker) sent her gratitude and thanks for our kind donations!
